On Cloud Nine: At the Depot Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked, on both sides, by the White 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This will be the center of the quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips. (These will be flanked, on both sides, by the White 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the Purple 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips, and on the other side by the results of the Pink 7 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the ends of the pairing of TWO (2) of the White 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips and ONE (1) of the Purple 2″ x 4 3/4″ strips, they will also be the FOUR (4) corners, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3″ square. (This will be flanked, on all FOUR (4) sides by the Pink 3″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These will flank the Yellow 3″ square, and they will also flank FOUR (4) of the Red 3″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) Red 3″ squares. (These will flank the FOUR (4) Pink 3″ squares, and they will also flank the Light Blue 3″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Light Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These will be flanked on one side by the Red 3″ squares, and by the Light Blue 3″ x 5 1/2″ strips, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Light Blue: Cut FOUR (4) Red 3″ squares. (These will be flanked, on both sides, by the Light Blue 3″ x 5 1/2″ strips, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Light Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Yellow 4″ square, as well as the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares on ONE (1) side. On the other side they will flank the Light Green 2 3/4″ squares, as well as the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (ONE (1) side of each of these triangles will flank the White 4 3/4″ square, the other sides will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares as well as the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ square, and on the other side by the results of the Green 7 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This will be flanked on all FOUR (4) sides by the results of the Green 7 1/4″ square, it will also be the center, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank TWO (2) sides of the Light Green 2 3/4″ squares, they will also flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Light Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block, it’s also the center of the Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Purple 4″ square, as well as the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (TWO (2) sides of these will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares, while the other TWO(2) sides will flank the Pink 2 3/4″ squares and results of the White 4 1/4″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the Purple 4″ squares and the remaining TWO (2) sides will be the corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Pink 4 3/4″ square which will create the Square in a Square, as well as being the center of this quilt block, as needed for this quilt block.)
