Four-Patch Stars Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Four-Patch Stars Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Plum: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Plum-colored Four-Patch Star.)
  • Plum: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Blue-colored Four-Patch Star.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Green-colored Four-Patch Star.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Rust-colored Four-Patch Star.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the corners’ of the Blue-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block. And the remaining FOUR (4) will be the corners’ of the Green-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block.
  • Peach: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by either the results of the Blue-colored 2 3/8″ squares, or by the results of the Green-colored 2 3/8″ squares, which will create a total of EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. Which is what is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the corners’ of the Plum-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block. And the remaining FOUR (4) will be the corners’ of the Rust-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by either the results of the Plum-colored 2 3/8″ squares, or by the results of the Rust-colored 2 3/8″ squares, which will create a total of EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. Which is what is needed for this quilt block.)

  • Light Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Light Blue-colored Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Light Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Light Blue-colored Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lilac: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the Yellow 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Lilac-colored Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lilac: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Lilac-colored Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Green-colored Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Green-colored Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Turquoise: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Turquoise-colored Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by either the results of the Light Blue-colored 2 3/8″ squares, or by the results of the Turquoise-colored
    2 3/8″ squares, which will create a total of EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. Which is what is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the corners’ of the Lilac-colored Four-Patch Star Variation Star. And the remaining FOUR (4) will be the corners’ of the Green-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by either the results of the Lilac-colored 2 3/8″ squares, or by the results of the Green-colored

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Maroon: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be the center’s of each of the “stars” as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ strips. (These will be flanked on all FOUR (4) sides, by the results of the Orange 2 3/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Orange 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the Gold 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
