Special Quilting on a Military Veteran’s Quilt

When I give my longarm quilter a quilt, I rarely ask for her to do a pattern.  She is the expert and she quilts my quilts with love.  I did ask for stars to be used when quilting this special Military Veteran’s quilt.  But, Meloney went way further and quilted the quilt with both stars and a little bit of micro-quilting where I had placed raw edge applique.  I am sure the recipient of this quilt will treasure it, in part because it is made especially for him and in part because of the beautiful quilting Meloney has done.

DONE Stamp

I officially declare that this very special quilt receives a DONE stamp (read more about it here and here)!  The quilting is finished, the binding sewn on the front and whip-stitched to the back and the custom embroidered label is completed and hand-sewn on the back.  The only thing left to do is to deliver it to the special lady with whom the quilt was made for!

This is made from my friend’s mom’s pajamas that she wore as dementia ravaged her brain and life.  My lovely quilter, Meloney, has finished quilting the quilt and I cannot wait to get my hands on this beautiful creation and finish it!  Here are some photos Meloney shared with me:

The Quilted Beauty of 116 Quilts

I stepped into our church yesterday to view the fruits of the labor of the wonderful church ladies who made 116 quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  You may remember how excited they were when I delivered a boatload of fabric to them.  I cannot tell how many quilts were made from the fabrics that were donated by the quilters I know…but, there is pure quilted beauty in the display of their efforts before they ship the quilts off.  Behold…
