Quilted Halloween Kitchen: Pumpkin Quilt Block & Pumpkin Bread Recipe

Pumpkin Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Pumpkin Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut ONE 2 3/4″ square. (This is paired with the White 2 3/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles is needed for this quilt block. Once it is sewn together it is paired with the Green 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. Then it is paired with the White 2″ square which will create the “stem” of the Pumpkin.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangle & will help create the “stem” of the pumpkin.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 8 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the body of the pumpkin. It’s paired with the White 3 3/4″ square. It is also paired with the White 4 1/4″ square. Once it is all sewn together it will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Green 2 3/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles is needed for this quilt block. Once it is sewn together it is paired with the Green 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. Then it is paired with the White 2″ square which will create the “stem” of the Pumpkin.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ square. (This is paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangle. Once it is sewn together it will help create the “stem” of the pumpkin.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 8 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 8 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They will also be the lower left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the “stem” of the pumpkin. They are also the upper left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are in the center of this quilt block. They are paired with the Dk. Gray/Black Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Dk. Gray: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Black 3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Then they are paired with the Green
    2 1/2″ squares which will help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) end with the Dk. Gray/Green Half-Square Triangles. Then they are paired with the Black 2 1/2″ x
    5 1/2″ rectangles.)
  • Dk. Gray: Cut TWO (2) 3″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Black 3″ squares in the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Gray: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Black 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles.)
  • Dk. Gray: Cut TWO (2) 4″ squares. (These are the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block. They are paired with the Black 2 1/2″ x 4″ rectangles.)
  • Black: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. They are paired with the Dk. Gray 3″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles.)
  • Black: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. They are paired with the Dk. Gray 3″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles.)
  • Black: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Dk. Gray 3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Then they are paired with the Green
    2 1/2″ squares which will help create the center of this quilt block.)

Stuffed Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Turquoise: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Pink 3 1/8″ squares.)
  • Turquoise: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 1/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are first paired with the Pink 3 1/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. Then they are paired with the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares. Finally they are paired with the Turquoise 3 1/8″ square. Once they are all sewn together they will create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Turquoise 2 1/2″ x 7″ rectangles.
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Pink 3 3/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are the center of this quilt block. They are flanked by the results of the White 4 3/8″ square.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ x 6 5/8″ rectangles. (These are paired on the long side with the results of the White 5 3/4″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the Blue 2 3/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block. Then they are paired with the results of the White 6 5/8″ square.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They are paired with the long side of the Blue 3 7/8″ x 6 5/8″ rectangles.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. Once they are sewn together with the Blue 2 3/8″ squares they will create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the short ends of the Blue 3 7/8″ x 6 5/8″ rectangles.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 8 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these triangles are flanked by the results of the Gold 4 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese. The other TWO (2) of these triangles, are flanked by the results of the Rust 4 3/4″ squares, which will create TWO (2) more Flying Geese.)
  • Gold: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These rectangles are paired between the Rust
    3 1/2″ x 4″ rectangles. They’re the “trunks” of the “trees”)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Rust 2″ x 4″ rectangles. They’re the setting blocks for the “trunks” of the “trees”)
  • Gold: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of TWO (2) of the Yellow 8 3/8″ squares. Which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese.)
