Quilted Kitchen: Pineapple Variation Quilt Block and Cheesecake with Pineapple Recipe

Pineapple Variation Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dark Blue:  Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
  • Dark Blue:  Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
  • Medium Blue:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
  • Medium Blue:  Cut ONE (1) 6 3/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
  • Light Blue:  Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
  • White:  Cut ONE (1) 6 3/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
  • White:  Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
  • White:  Cut ONE (1) 2 1/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.

Using this image (above) as a guide, sew your Pineapple Variation quilt block beginning with the center square and adding each pair of coordinating triangles in a square in a square fashion.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • White:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips.
  • White:  Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares.
  • Teal:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips.
  • Teal:  Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Teal:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times). You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square.
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times). You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square.
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times). You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
