Quilted Kitchen Sampler

Let’s make a sampler quilt out of some of the “Quilted Kitchen” quilt blocks found here at QuiltTherapy.com!  ALL of the quilt blocks are already designed to be 12″ finished, 12 1/2″ unfinished blocks. You need to do is to choose to make the ones I have put in my design or any 12 blocks of the design of your choice.  Then deicide on the colors of your sampler blocks.  You can keep the colors I created with the blocks, use your stash for an even scrappier quilt and even go all out and choose your own colors for a more complimentary and uniform look.

Well, there IS another something you will need to decide…and that is should you make all of the recipes that go with each block?  LOL

Cookie Jar Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pewter:  Cut ONE (1) 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ strip.
  • Blue:  Cut ONE (1) 9″ x 10″ strip.
  • White:  Cut TWO (2) 1 3/4″ x 12 1/2″ strips.
  • White:  Cut TWO (2) 2 1/4″ x 2 3/4″ strips.
  • White:  Cut TWO (2) 2″ strips (bottom corner triangles). On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • White:  Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ strips (top corner triangles). On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.

Duck and Ducklings Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green #1:  Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares.  Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Green #2:  Cut TWO (2) 5 3/4″ squares.  Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Orange:  Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/4″ squares.
  • Lt. Pink:  Cut SIX (6) 3 1/4″ squares.  Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Lt. Pink:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Brown #1:  Cut SIX (6) 2 3/4″ squares.
  • Brown #1:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Brown #2:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Purple #1:  Cut SIX (6) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Purple #2:  Cut SIX (6) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Beige:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.
  • Beige:  Cut SIX (6) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then on the back side of the squares, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue #1:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.
  • Blue #2:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Blue #3:  Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/4″ squares.
  • Green:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares.
  • White:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • White:  Cut TWELVE (12) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then on the back side of the squares, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
