The Quilt Guild of Metro Detroit Sewed my “Happiness is Quilting” BOM Quilt Together!
“Happiness is Quilting†2017 Block of the Month Quilt. An original quilt designed by TK Harrison from BOMquilts.com!
The Quilt Guild of Metro Detroit is a traditional quilt guild but have a wide variety of talent amongst us. Normally we meet at a church in Harper woods, Michigan, but yet again due to Covid we are meeting exclusively digital.
Each month we usually feature speakers from all over, and we hold a retreat once a year, and a quilt show every other year. This year, as all of the above have been canceled – we are trying to get more hands-on. So we are going to be doing your BOM, as well as offering a mystery quilt and a few member-led workshops.

It’s “Talking Turkey” Time at Quilt Dash this Month!
Thanksgiving is upon us again this year! So let’s talk about Turkey, Flying Geese & Wild Geese!
“Talking Turkey”
Designed by TK Harrison (that’s me 🙂 )
This pieced quilt measures 68†x 78†when finished.
The quilt blocks are 12†finished & 12 1/2†unfinished.
Whatever you do on Thanksgiving be sure that you take time to “Fly Away†with your sewing machine!
There are two main quilt blocks that are in this quilt:
- Turkey in the Straw Quilt Block
- Wild Geese Quilt Block
This is a Horizontal Strip quilt. It should be a little bit easier to sew together than a traditional quilt!

The El Campo Quilt Guild Sewed my “Happiness is Quilting” 2017 BOM Quilt Together!
“Happiness is Quilting†2017 Block of the Month Quilt. An original quilt designed by TK Harrison from BOMquilts.com!
Our El Campo Casual Quilt Guild, in El Campo, Texas, started with a group of 10 women making baby quilts in the 1990s. In 2005 they formed a quilt guild. They met at the Boys & Girls Club during the school year. Then at a building called the Northside Center during the summer months where we still meet. We currently have 38 members. We meet the first Wednesday of each month.
Each year we make two quilts and raffle them off. This money is used to buy supplies for the items we make and donate. We call ourselves the Casual Quilters because we do not have strict rules. Our main purpose is to have fun while we quilt!

Friday Funday! It’s “Fall Arrival” at Quilt Dash this Month!
Fall colors make a beautiful quilt!
“Fall Arrival”
Designed by Phyllis Dobbs!
This appliquéd & pieced quilt measures 49†x 59†when finished.
The blocks are 10″ square finished & 10 1/2″ square unfinished.
The Fall Arrival quilt pattern can be easily adjusted to make it smaller or larger from the original quilt pattern.
The quilt is made with 20 – 10″ square blocks in an alternating color arrangement.
There are only two blocks that make up this beautiful “Fall Arrival” quilt pattern:
An appliqué leaf on half of the blocks creates a visual point of interest to illustrate falling leaves!

This is what one of the rows in the “Fall Arrival” quilt looks like!
When you finish your fall quilt, you can use this pattern to welcome spring, by using brighter colors with green leaves.
