Key Lime Pie Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green #1: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.
- Green #2: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
- Green #3: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut this square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
- Green #4: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares.
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut this square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares.
Quilt Block Construction Diagram:
Using this image (above) as a guide, sew your Key Lime Pie quilt block together as you would a basic Nine-Patch block, piecing each of the Nine-Patch’s squares together first.

Hi Jeanne! I redesigned this quilt block & you’ll find it at https://quilttherapy.com/?p=15955. All of my free quilt blocks are 12″ square. I’m not set up to resize them for individual users. My best suggestion is to reduce the size of the cuts by one-third & see if you’re able to get a 9″ square quilt block from that. If that doesn’t work, then I’m afraid you’re just going to have to play around with the cuts for this quilt block, until you get the exact size that you need.
