Noon Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides with the White 3 1/2″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired on the remaining TWO (2) sides with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles, where they’ll form a “frame” around the White 4 3/4″ square, when they’re sewn with the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles, where they’ll form a “frame” around the White 4 3/4″ square, when they’re sewn with the center of this quilt block)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s “framed” by the Blue 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles, it’s also “framed” by the Blue 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Red 4 1/4″ squares.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Red
4 1/4″ squares, they’re also paired with the Blue 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

If you sew TWELVE (12) “Noon Star Quilt Blocks” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Noon Star Variation Quilt Block

They’re paired on the remaining TWO (2) sides with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Red 4 1/4″ squares which are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles, where they’ll form a “frame” around the White 4 3/4″ square, when they’re sewn with the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles, where they’ll form a “frame” around the White 4 3/4″ square, when they’re sewn with the center of this quilt block)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s “framed” by the Blue 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles, it’s also “framed” by the Blue 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″” squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Red 4 1/4″ squares which are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Red 4 1/4″ squares, they’re also paired with the Blue 2 5/8″ x 9″ rectangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
