Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Blue 3 3/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the White 3 3/8″ squares. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the White 3 3/8″ squares. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 1/2″ x
6 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Blue 3 3/8″ squares. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 6 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
