Lone Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Red 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Blue 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Red 3″ squares on ONE (1) side & the results of the White 3″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (3) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank, on ONE (1) side, the Red 3″ squares. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 9 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue 3″ squares & the results of the Red 3″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Lone Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
