Wanna Come to My House and Play with Fabrics?

Published by Tammom under Quilt Blogging

The lovely Linda from AbbiMays.com sent me a surprise package yesterday – and it’s of the most enjoyable kind – QUILT FABRIC!!!  And, it just so happens that JD has to be gone from sunup until sundown for Boy Scout training on Saturday — so, ya’ll know where you can find ME!

Ash Wednesday

Published by Tammom under Family Therapy

Tonight, I will receive the sign of the cross, smudged in ashes across my forehead.  The humbleness of Lent is upon us, and the blessed time of Jesus’ rise at Easter brings a whole new, reflective and contemplative meaning to my life.  This time, beginning with Ash Wednesday, really is for the preparation of the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  May you, too, be blessed with the Grace that He has bestowed upon us.  May you and your family show your love to Him, as He is the only way to our salvation.

(Praise God, and I thank Him for allowing me to enjoy a means to guide my mental stability through chocolate and quilt therapy, too).

Another Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet Completed

Published by Tammom under Family Therapy

Ah yes, the annual “mom cooks until she can’t stand up anymore” banquet came and went, with nary a backache and only one minor mishap (JD forgot to get the tater tots out of the freezer to cook for the boys).  I do love to cook, and I don’t mind volunteering to cater such events – I even enjoy it, because it usually involves some or all of the kids, at one point or another.  But, it sure is a lot of work crammed into a short time span!

This year, our menu consisted of chicken tenders, cooked by a local grocery store deli.  Can you think of anything more convenient?  For the boys, I offered the plain, breaded chicken tenders.  For adults (and the more advanced palattes of the kids), I layered the tenders with black forest ham and swiss cheese, to create a mock Chicken Cordon Bleu.  It was a GREAT hit, and many folks came back for more!

We also had herb-crusted and roasted potatoes, baked beans, green beans, brownies, blue & gold (yellow) Jello jigglers and a lovely pasta salad:

And my husband did his schtick, since he’s the pack committee chairman (and the cubmaster and the Bear den leader were unable to attend the event), he wanted to be sure to let the young cub scouts (and the older ones, too) see just how far the upcoming Pinewood Derby races had come from the days of old:

What a funny guy!  We were honored to have two distinguished gentlemen share in the ceremony, our local county Judge (Eagle ‘62) and a local community leader (Eagle, date unknown).  How fun it is for these young boys and blossoming men to see just how successful one can be, and give much of the credit to their years as Scouts.  I, for one, was delighted and touched … and then a bit freaked out … as my husband received yet another year’s pin, making him involved in the Boy Scout program for 43 years {gulp}.

The Manly-Man Plays with the Webcam

Published by Tammom under Family Therapy

At some point, I’m sure this webcam will bore the kids to death – but, for now, they’re having too much fun with it!  Once again, forgive the poor lighting – is hard to catch the kids during the daylight hours!

Quilted Wine Glass Coasters

Published by Tammom under Quilt Blogging, Texas Blogging

Ever since I saw this coaster pattern during the “Cotton Spice Last Minute Gift Countdown,” I’ve been wanting to make them.  My husband loves wine, and although we’re not much for having company and folks milling around our home with wine glasses in-hand, I thought the concept a novel idea!  Of course, I couldn’t just follow Gudrun’s instructions, I had to put a little Texas twist on them and make them to match the table runner that you see on my header right now, as it was for a gift basket our Girl Scout Service Unit was putting together for a fundraiser.  But, in the end, I was VERY pleased with the results, and hopefully our little gift basket will be auctioned off for big bucks, half of which will go to our service unit!

Webcam Fun

Published by Tammom under Family Therapy

I had to get a new laptop, I go through them pretty quickly.  I can make any computer last about 2 years, and then it’s time for a new one.  My old one actually lasted 2 years and 1 month — but, now, it’s being replaced and I’m frantically trying to get all of my old files and info moved over.

One of the things my new computer has is a webcam, and the kids *had* to try it out last night.  Oh joy :-)

This video was taken in the dark, with little light – but, you can see my rugrats (errrr, angels) nonetheless.  Be sure to watch for the salsa-dancing boy in the background:

NEVER Underestimate the Power of Prayer

Published by Tammom under Family Therapy

Wanted to share this fabulous update with everyone about our friend Ms. P that we received from her husband (name omitted for privacy reasons) – I wrote about Ms. P here and here:

Hello Everyone,  I just wanted to let you know that our Surgeon/Oncologist has informed Ms. P. and I that the cancerous tumor that was removed from her mouth a couple of weeks ago has not spread cancer to the rest of her body. She will go once a month for a year to take blood test that will tell us if she is truly in the clear. The oncologist tells us that Radiation and Chemo are not necessary at this time.

Ms. P. originally had another section removed from under her tongue about a year ago. The tumor was not cancerous at that time. This last time around, the tumor was cancerous, but self contained. Hopefully, this will be the last time. Ms.P and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your prayers for her. We praise the Lord every day for her health and peace of mind.

Thanks and have a great day.  Yours in Christ

And, I too, thank you.  Praise God for healing and strength, as Ms. P continues on this journey of her life.
