The Radishes Rule!

Quilt Therapy Posted on June 22, 2009 by TK HarrisonJune 19, 2009

My DH teaches Sunday School at church.  Since we are Lutheran, he totally and completely agrees with the Lutheran principals of our denomination – those set forth by Martin Luther in the late 1400’s to early 1500’s; when his so-called blasphemy got him in hot water, and led to the reformation of 1516-17.

Lutherans base moral thought and action on the Bible, the foundational doctrines found in the Book of Concord, and on the historical example of Martin Luther. (https://www.patheos.com/Explore/Library/Lutheran/Ethics-Morality-Community/Principles-of-Moral-Thought-and-Action.html)

Some may, today, call him the radical of his time.

The Latin derivitive of “radical” is RAD.  Hence, because my husband is such a “by the book” type of teacher; his small, but mighty, group of Sunday School participants have gleefully been coined the RADISHES.

Ms. Mary, one of the radishes, was in a car accident last week.  She and her husband are ok, and are home recuperating.  So, during my nap yesterday, DD#1 took the time to paint Ms. Mary a little get well gift….from one radish to another:

DD#3 just finished the 2nd grade at the local public school.  During her award’s ceremony, she received a certificate for perfect attendance.

Yesterday in the mail, she received another award for that perfect attendance – a check in the amount of $200!!!  As I understand it, a member of the community graciously rewards second graders with such checks, if they have either perfect attendance or if they miss 1 or 2 days.

I was dumbfounded and have never heard of such a thing before!  Of course, she refuses to share with me … and she won’t even consider buying her dad a Father’s Day gift with some of her funds.  She emphatically (and loudly) has stated that she’s saving her money to buy her very own LAPTOP.  Can a geeky mom really be upset about that?!

I think I’ll head back to second grade next year!
