Countdown to Christmas Day #5, 2010

Block #2 Cutting:

  1. Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/8″ squares
  2. White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/8″ squares
  3. Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square, then cut the square diagonally, corner to corner, TWO (2) times, will yield FOUR (4) triangles
  4. White:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square, then cut the square diagonally, corner to corner, TWO (2) times, will yield FOUR (4) triangles
  5. Gold: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square
  6. Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/8″ squares, then cut the squares diagonally, corner to corner, ONE (1) time, will yield TWO (2) triangles for each square

Piecing Block #1:

  1. Create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles (HSTs) with the White & Red 3 3/8″ squares.
  2. Sew TWO (2) rows that look like this:
  3. Sew TWO (2) rows that look like this:
  4. Sew the #3 rows to the Green center, to look like this:
  5. Finally, sew the top & bottom rows to the #4 section to finish your block!

Finished Size: 56″ x 80″
Finished Block Size: 10″ square
Unfinished Block Size: 10 1/2″ square
All seams 1/4″

Fabric Requirements:

  1. White 1 1/2 yards
  2. Red 2 yards
  3. Green 2 yards
  4. Gold 1 yard
