Country Church Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Dark Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is flanked by the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Flying Geese. It’s also be part of the “top row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Dark Rust: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is flanked by the Rust 3 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Flying Geese. It’s also be part of the “top row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This will flank the results of the Dark Rust 7 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Flying Geese. It’s also paired with the Rust 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. - Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Rust 3 7/8″ square. It’s part of the “second row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. (This will flank the results of the Rust 3 7/8″ square. It’ll also be paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle & the White 2 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ rectangle. It’s part of the “first row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’s part of the “third row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 7 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ squares & the White 3 1/2″ x 5″ square. They’re part of the “third row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Mustard Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. They’re part of the “third row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Mustard Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. You only need SIX (6) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles. They’re part of the “third row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- Mustard Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ rectangles. (These are part of the “third row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. It’ll be flanked by the results of the White 1 7/8″ square & the Yellow 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. It’ll also be part of the “top row” of this quilt block as shown in the “Country Church Quilt Block Diagram” below.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles.
