Granny’s Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ square. They’ll create a “frame” around the Four-Patch in the center of this quilt block. As needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 4 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
