Monastery Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Green 4 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Square in a Squares. ONE (1) will be the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. The other ONE (1) will be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the White 4 3/4″ squares, which will partially create TWO (2) Square in a Squares, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Square in a Squares. ONE (1) will be the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. The other ONE (1) will be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the White
4 3/4″ squares, which will partially create TWO (2) Square in a Squares, as needed to sew this quilt block together.) - White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. They’re also flanked by the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares. All together they’ll create TWO (2) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the upper right-hand corner & the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
