Pear Tree Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Brown: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is the “Trunk” of the “Pear Tree” quilt block, it’s flanked by the results of the Brown 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner.)
- Brown: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is the base of the “Trunk” of the “Pear Tree” quilt block. It flanks the Brown 3 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner.)
- Dk. Green: Cut THREE (3) 3 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 5/8″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (ONE (1) of these is the top of the “Pear Tree” & the other THREE (3) will flank the Half-Square Triangles.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will flank FOUR (4) of the Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut THREE (3) 3 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Dk. Green 3 5/8″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the Brown 3 1/2″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
