Quilted Kitchen: Crab Claws Quilt Block & Stone Crab with Mustard Sauce Recipe
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Brick Red: Cut THREE (3) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square triangles, as needed for this quilt block. They’ll also be part of the crab’s “claws”.)
- Brick Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Brick Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2 rectangles. (These are TWO (2) “arms” of the crab in this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut THREE (3) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square triangles, as needed for this quilt block. They’ll also be part of the crab’s “claws”.)
- Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Brick Red 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2 rectangles. (These are TWO (2) “arms” of the crab in this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (THREE (3) of these are paired with the Brick Red 2 7/8″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square Triangles. And the remaining THREE (3) are paired with the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares, which will create SIX (6) more Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these are flanked by the results of either the Brick Red 2 7/8″ squares or the results of the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares. The remaining FOUR (4) are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
