Indian’s Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

If you sew TWELVE (12) “Indian’s Quilt Blocks” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
