Countdown to Christmas 12/7/2020: Hot Chocolate Quilt Block
Hot Chocolate Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Brown: Cut TWO (2) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. You only need SIX (6) of these triangles for this portion of this quilt block. But save the other TWO (2) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Brown: Using the remaining TWO (2) Triangles from the 7 1/4″ square above. (These are paired with the results of the White 7 1/4″ triangles which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the Brown 7 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIX (6) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Brown 7 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
