Four-Patch Stars Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Plum: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Plum-colored Four-Patch Star.)
- Plum: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Blue-colored Four-Patch Star.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Green-colored Four-Patch Star.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of the Rust-colored Four-Patch Star.)
- Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Peach 3 1/2″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Peach: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the corners’ of the Blue-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block. And the remaining FOUR (4) will be the corners’ of the Green-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block.
- Peach: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by either the results of the Blue-colored 2 3/8″ squares, or by the results of the Green-colored 2 3/8″ squares, which will create a total of EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. Which is what is needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the corners’ of the Plum-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block. And the remaining FOUR (4) will be the corners’ of the Rust-colored Four-Patch Star portion of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by either the results of the Plum-colored 2 3/8″ squares, or by the results of the Rust-colored 2 3/8″ squares, which will create a total of EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Light Blue-colored Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Lilac: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the Yellow 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Lilac-colored Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Lilac: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
