Calling Birds Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Dk. Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Half-Square Triangle. You only need ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block. It’s also the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will flank the results of the Blue 12 7/8″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Dk. Green 4 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Half-Square Triangle. You only need ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block. It’s also the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 12 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (This is flanked by the results of the Yellow 4 7/8″ squares. It’s also the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
