Domino Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Tan: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Tan: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Snowball Corners. They’re also paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Tan: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Tan 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. These are flanked by the results of the Tan 3 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Tan 3 3/8″ squares & they’re also paired on ONE (1) other side by the White/Tan Flying Geese. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Tan 2 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Blue: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Tan: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Tan: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Snowball Corners. They’re also paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Teal: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Teal 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. FOUR (4) of these Snowball Corners are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Teal: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Aqua 5 1/4″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Teal 5 1/4″ square & they’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank TWO (2) sides of the Jade 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Aqua
    5 1/4″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Aqua 5 1/4″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the Yellow 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 3/4″ squares, they’re also paired with the Dk. Pink 1 3/4″ squares, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Dk. Pink 2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles. (Every TWO (2) of these are paired with each other. Next they’re paired with the White 2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. Next they’re paired with the Square in a Square in the center of this quilt block. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 1 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They’ll also flank the results of the Blue 6″ square which will help create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Dk. Blue 6″ square, which will help create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
