Aunt Dinah’s Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares.)
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Pink 2 1/2″ squares on ONE (1) side. They’ll also flank the results of the Pink 4 7/8″ squares. In addition they’ll help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Pink 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
