Tree of Life Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Green: Cut ONE (1) 5″ square. (This square is paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangles + the White 2″ squares. Together they’ll create the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 5 3/8″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Green: Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles. You only need NINE (9) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with ONE (1) end of the Green 1 7/8″ x 5 1/2″ rectangle, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 1 5/8″ x 5 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Green 1 7/8″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. Only ONE (1) of these triangles is used in this quilt block. (This is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. Then it’s paired with the Green 1 7/8″ x 5 1/2″ rectangle. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 3/8″ squares which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles. You only need NINE (9) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank the results of the Green 4 7/8″ square. Then they’re paired with the White 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the White
2 3/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.) - White: Cut FOUR (2) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 5 3/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.
