Texas Bluebonnets are Stunning!

Quilt Therapy Posted on April 6, 2012 by TK HarrisonApril 5, 2012

Amongst the highways and biways around Texas, the bluebonnets (Texas state flower) truly are one of the most lovely sights in this great state.  Most of them grow in the worst conditions and although many folks try to plant their own from seeds, they are usually unsuccessful.  Which makes finding them a treasure, a moment in time of beautiful color, a special memory that lasts for a very short time except through photographs.

Behold the beauty…

Quilt Retreat Organization

Quilt Therapy Posted on April 5, 2012 by TK HarrisonApril 5, 2012

While at the retreat with Kathryn of Quilt Kits and Quarters, I had a very good time photographing all of the fun organizational methods that the retreaters used.  No clue why these types of things fascinate me, but am thinking it’s because I’m not so organized in my own sewing room – let alone at a retreat!

Fun Project and Pin Cushion

Quilt Therapy Posted on April 2, 2012 by TK HarrisonApril 1, 2012

When at the retreat last weekend, a number of the ladies that pariticipated had various free gifts for those who participated on the retreat.  One of those was just so darned stinking cute, I had to share.  As I understood how they made them, they started with a cupcake paper.  Then, they placed a round piece of cardboard in the bottom of the paper, to keep the pin cushion stable.  Then, they added some rocks, the type that you buy for fish tanks was what they found worked best.  Once the rocks were in the cupcake papers, they used expanding foam insulation from a spray bottle to create the “cupcake”.  They allowed them to dry and set up.  The frosting is colored caulking, spread over the top and then while it was wet, they added their “decorative toppings” – such as erasors, beads for sprinkles, etc.  Take a look and see if you think these are as adorable as I thought they were:
