Neighborhood Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/4″ squares.Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Green 3″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 5 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 3″ squares.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 3″ squares. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Four-Patches in the center of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 6 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Red 3 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 5 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 3″ squares.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 3″ squares. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Four-Patches in the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 6 3/8″ square. Once they are sewn together with the results of the Green 3 3/4″ squares they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. - White: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Green 3 3/4″ squares. Then they are flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Red 3 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Neighborhood Star Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with either the Blue 3 3/4″ squares or the Purple 3 3/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 3″ squares.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 3″ squares. Once they are sewn together they will create TWO (2) Four-Patches in the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square. (These are paired with the Yellow 3 3/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Then they are paired with the results of the White 3 3/4″ squares. They are also paired with the results of the Yellow 5 3/4″ squares. Once they are all sewn together they will create TWO (2) corners of this quilt block.
