Quilt Kits and Quarters Laser Store

Quilt Therapy Posted on September 12, 2012 by TK HarrisonSeptember 12, 2012

Like many quilters, I have a fabric fettish.  I won’t deny it.  I get new fabric and I want to feel it, look at it, lay it around me – and bathe in it, if given the chance!  I don’t need a 12-step program for this fettish – I have Quilt Therapy!

A couple of years ago I went to Quilt Market in Houston and ran into some quilt shop friends – one being Kathryn Rister of Quilt Kits and Quarters.  One of those friends SO excited to show me her new laser cut designs.  I have not seen these before and they were absolutely stunning!  I saw them again at last year’s quilt market and her laser cut designs numbers had doubled.  They are SO COOL and would be so fun to work with for just about any reason or theme you want to make a quilt out of.  I have been trying to design a quilt out of them in my head, but every time I go look at them, she has more designs … and frankly, there’s not a bed around that would be big enough for all of her laser cut designs that I would want to put into a quilt!

Take a look and see what you think about these laser cut appliques:

If you’d like more information or to take a look at what Ms. Kathryn offers, please go see her at Quilt Kits and Quarters!

I think out of all the booths we looked at, this one was my absolute favorite booth.  Here are a few photos of one part of it:

Quilt Market with Gina, Meloney and Kathryn

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 8, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 7, 2010

Let me just say that if I had the time and inclination to spend with a couple more ladies at quilt market, besides my quilter and friend Meloney, Gina and her mom Kathryn would be the two I’d want to be with.

Kathryn, Meloney and Gina

Kathryn is the owner of the online quilt shop, Quilt Kits and Quarters.  Kathryn has a fabulous new laser cutting business that made me drool.

Gina is the owner of the online quilt and embroidery shop, Splinters and Threads.  Gina has one of the hottest going set of templates for quilters at market.  Big things are happening for this lady!

And, of course, Meloney, who has gone to quilt market with me for the second year in a row.  She is SO wonderful in helping me keep my hands off of things that cause my skin allergies to flare up, drag my rolling cart around with all of our goodies and keep me on track for where we need to be and what we need to see.  I couldn’t ask for a better bag lady 🙂

Kathryn, Mary Mann and Gina

In this photo above, Mary is Gina’s tester, and Gina says she keeps Mary QUITE busy stitching and testing.  She was helping Gina in her booth.  She even laughed with us and had no clue who we were!  hehe

I don’t know what it is about those three women, but we end up laughing our fool heads off when we get together.  I think we need to plan a get-together in the near future – just so we can giggle and laugh and just enjoy the quilting friendships that come with a shared passion.

The Fun of Quilt Market is in the MOOOO

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 4, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 4, 2010

My kitchen is full of holstein cows.  They’re EVERYWHERE – and I have no space to display my whole collection, so I have a couple (or three or four) boxes of them in my closet just waiting to be let out to pasture!

So, when I came upon these two adorable wall hangings, I had to snap photos.  I apologize to the designer because I didn’t write down their name (if you know, please let me know so I can give them credit!).

My kinda MOOOO at quilt market:
