Countdown to Christmas 12/1/2023: Christmas Star Quilt Block

Cinderella’s Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles will flank the Pink 3 1/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. When it is all sewn together it will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It is flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Pink: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the White 3 1/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Square in a Squares.)
- Pink: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Pink/White Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Pink 3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Blue 3 1/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 6 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Pink 3 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Cinderella’s Star Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares.Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Yellow
3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles. Once they are sewn together they will be flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.) - Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. - Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. These Half-Square Triangles are found in the center of this quilt block & they will create “Rosie’s Pinwheel”).
- White: Cut SIX (6) 4 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 4 3/4″ squares.
