Saddlebags Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Burgundy: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Burgundy 2 7/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Burgundy: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Tan 1 3/4″ square to create the Square in a Square for the center of this quilt block.)
- Burgundy: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with ONE (1) end of each of the FOUR (4) Tan 3 3/8″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Tan: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Burgundy 1 7/8″ squares to create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Tan: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) end by the results of the Tan 2 7/8″ squares & with the results of the Burgundy 2 7/8″ squares on the opposite ends. Which will create a total of EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.)

3 3/8″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
