A Bag in Hand…
Last weekend, the ladies of our church held a Texas convention. As part of it, they made bags to fill with information and printed resources for all of the attendees. The youth were also asked to assist with the clean-up from the luncheon, and funds would be given to the youth group for their mission trip this summer (or for my middle daughter’s camp tuition, since she’s in youth but not in high school and not old enough to go on the trip).
The convention was about a week away and the organizers were in a tizzy – more and more registrations kept coming in and they were unable to meet the demand with the bags – so they called in the Big Bag Dog: ME. 🙂
First they asked me to finish 10 bags they had already cut out.
Then they asked me to make 20 more bags as more registrations arrived.
Finally, two days before the convention, they asked for five more – just in case women came in and registered the day of the event.
Luckily, I have a family who tolerates – and occasionally enjoys – helping me with projects. One daughter sewed, two daughters ironed fabric and my husband even got involved by turning and pressing the bags to finish them. We met their demands head-on and when I took the girls to help the youth clean up, it gave me a smile to see that many of the ladies from our own church made sure to get the bags that I made <grin>.
