Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the Gold 2 7/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the White
2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.) - Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 6 1/8″ square, which will create a Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 6 1/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the Red 2 7/8″ squares. It will also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Red 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

- Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create the first Square in a Square. It will be the center of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Green 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create Eight (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create the second Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
