Rosette Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Light Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These will be flanked on TWO (2) sides, by the results of the Bright Pink 4 1/4″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Light Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Red 4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Bright Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Bright Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the opposite side [than the results of the Light Pink 4 1/4″ square] of the results of the Red 4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Light Pink 4 1/4″ square, and on the other side by the results of the Bright Pink 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. These will also be the center of this quilt block.
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Bright Pink
4 1/4″ squares, they will also be the FOUR (4) corners, as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Bright Pink 4 1/4″ squares & the Light Pink 4 1/4″ squares, and on the other side by the results of the of the Bright Pink 4 1/4″ squares & the Light Pink 2 1/2″ squares, which will make up FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Rosette Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the Yellow 2 1/2″ squares, and on the other side by the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Peach: Cut TWO (2) 4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the White 3 1/2″ square, and on the other side by the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Peach: Cut ONE (1) Peach 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked on one side by the White 3 1/2″ squares, and on the other side by the results of the White 7 1/4″ square [which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese], as needed for this quilt block.)
- Orange: Cut TWO (2) 4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side with the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ square, and on the other side with results of the Peach
4″ square & the Yellow 2 1/2″ square [which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese], as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ square, and on the other side by the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ square, they will also be the FOUR (4) corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ square, and on the other side by the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ square [which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese], as needed for this quilt block.)
