Star Power: Midnight Star Quilt Block & Midnight Star Variation Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these are paired with the results of the Dark Blue 5 1/4″ & the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles. The remaining TWO (2) of these are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Dark Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Dark Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the Dark Green 5 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Dark Blue 5 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. Midnight Star Variation Quilt Block

- Dark Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Dark Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these are paired with the results of the Dark Blue 5 1/4″ square & the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. Which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles. The remaining TWO (2) are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle & it’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Dark Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Dark Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. - White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Dark Green 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Dark Blue 5 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
