2010 Quilt Market Hooty Hoot Kangaroo

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 11, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 11, 2010

I think out of all the booths we looked at, this one was my absolute favorite booth.  Here are a few photos of one part of it:

Quilt Market with Gina, Meloney and Kathryn

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 8, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 7, 2010

Let me just say that if I had the time and inclination to spend with a couple more ladies at quilt market, besides my quilter and friend Meloney, Gina and her mom Kathryn would be the two I’d want to be with.

Kathryn, Meloney and Gina

Kathryn is the owner of the online quilt shop, Quilt Kits and Quarters.  Kathryn has a fabulous new laser cutting business that made me drool.

Gina is the owner of the online quilt and embroidery shop, Splinters and Threads.  Gina has one of the hottest going set of templates for quilters at market.  Big things are happening for this lady!

And, of course, Meloney, who has gone to quilt market with me for the second year in a row.  She is SO wonderful in helping me keep my hands off of things that cause my skin allergies to flare up, drag my rolling cart around with all of our goodies and keep me on track for where we need to be and what we need to see.  I couldn’t ask for a better bag lady 🙂

Kathryn, Mary Mann and Gina

In this photo above, Mary is Gina’s tester, and Gina says she keeps Mary QUITE busy stitching and testing.  She was helping Gina in her booth.  She even laughed with us and had no clue who we were!  hehe

I don’t know what it is about those three women, but we end up laughing our fool heads off when we get together.  I think we need to plan a get-together in the near future – just so we can giggle and laugh and just enjoy the quilting friendships that come with a shared passion.

The Fun of Quilt Market is in the MOOOO

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 4, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 4, 2010

My kitchen is full of holstein cows.  They’re EVERYWHERE – and I have no space to display my whole collection, so I have a couple (or three or four) boxes of them in my closet just waiting to be let out to pasture!

So, when I came upon these two adorable wall hangings, I had to snap photos.  I apologize to the designer because I didn’t write down their name (if you know, please let me know so I can give them credit!).

Houston Quilt Market with Pat Sloan

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 3, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 3, 2010

I knew that the lovely and uber-talented quilt and fabric designer, Pat Sloan, would be not just busy with her FANS, but also working a single booth the entire time she was at Quilt Market this year.  Usually, she floats from booth to booth, smiling and laughing and extolling the love for whatever booth she was in.  This year was no different on the love part, but she wasn’t flitting around – she almost stood in one place for days!

Knowing this, and knowing a little bit about her – I took it upon myself to offer her a little bit of relief:

That’s right – I took my virtual best friend forever some peanut M & M’s!  Every woman needs a chocolate break every now and then.  hehe

I uploaded the picture to Facebook, and here is Pat’s reply:

Awwwww, shucks.

I Missed Homecoming in Lieu of Quilt Market

Quilt Therapy Posted on November 2, 2010 by TK HarrisonNovember 2, 2010

Alas, there are always those choices that are SO hard to make!  This year, it was tough on me.  I needed a clone.  Homecoming was special for my kids, as all participated in one or more activities over the course of the weekend.  Our oldest daughter was asked to the homecoming game by a BOY.  But, she’s not allowed to DATE until she’s 16 (and that option is still up in the air, according to her father).  Good thing she was busy with helping with the coronation event and her not-a-date spent the entire game as the videographer for the football team.  The only time they really got to spend together was at the after-party – and my MIL kept her chicken-eye on them.

She made a mum for her not-a-date-homecoming-date:

And her not-a-date’s mom made DD#1 a mum – which she loved, because no one else had one like it!
