Crooked Brook Custom Embroidered Blocks Giveaway
Now for a quick tutorial on making your wacky farm blocks:
First, draw two lines vertically on the embroidered block on either side of the center embroidery; making sure the lines are straight but not necessarily perfectly perpendicular to the embroidered image:

Second, using the cow block as a foundation, place your seam of your border fabric, right side facing the animal block with the edge lined up with the line you drew and sew into place. Â Do not worry about cutting off the excess yet and do not worry about having a border piece be the exact size you need. Â Just cut about 4″ to 5″ strips of your border fabric. Â Then press your border fabric out toward the edges of the block:

Third, draw two more wacky lines, this time horizontally above and below the embroidered center:

Fourth, using the same technique in the second instructions, sew and press your border fabric to the top and bottom of your block:

Finally, square up your blocks by cutting away the excess border fabrics and foundation embroidered block so they are all square (mine were 12 1/2″ square when finished).

Thanks for sharing, would love to have blocks like this to play with.
