Prism Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lilac: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side, of the Lilac/Purple Half-Square Triangles, in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when sewn together.)
- Lilac: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when they’re sewn together.)
- Lilac: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block when they’re sewn together.)
- Lilac: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 4 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Lilac: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangle. (These are paired with the Purple 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side, of the Lilac/Purple Half-Square Triangles, in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when sewn together.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lilac 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when they’re sewn together.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lilac 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block when they’re sewn together.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lilac 4 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangle. (These are paired with the Lilac 1 7/8″ x
4 3/4″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.) - White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank both sides, of the larger Lilac/Purple Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
