Friday, August 23rd was my last birthday before I reach the big 5-0.  We had taken my daughter to college to unload all of her dorm necessities and then shopped for her dorm refrigerator and microwave.  I needed a break, at that point, so we locked everything up and went and had lunch.

My lovely quilter, Meloney, met us at the restaurant so I could give her a quilt that I needed quilted.  We had visited via email that morning and then, when I went home to get ready to head to the big city, Meloney got on Facebook and saw that it was my birthday.

She couldn’t let such a milestone and potential celebration go without gifting me with something special.  She made this pincushion while her family was vacationing in Hawaii last year – and I feel special that she gifted it to me!

Good friends are hard to come by – but, I know, without a doubt, that Meloney is just that – a friend, a collaborator and a God-loving honest woman…who made sure my birthday didn’t go unnoticed!
