Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Gold: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Gold 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank on TWO (2) ends, the results of the White 3″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
