Another Crooked Brook Fabric Giveaway! — 21 Comments

  1. I’m the CT/RI Regional Coordinator for Quilts of Valor. Five yards of fabric would be enough to back back a Quilt of Valor and make a coordinating presentation case.

  2. I am a fairly new quilter (one year old) and have been wanting to make a block quilt (can’t remember the name of the pattern, but it was a block within a block within a block within a block) and want to use all old-fashion looking material. How perfect this seersucker would be. Nothing speaks “old-fashion” louder than seersucker!!!

I can envision using it as the sashing as well as the backing or even as the middle square in each block. Oh my mind is just racing with ideas.

  3. I make, and donate many baby scrap quilt each month to various places in my small mountian town. I do not always have funds to purchase fabrics, and other key items for completing these quilts, but I am always amazed that what I need to do that, always comes in the most amazing and blessed ways.

5 yards of this type of fabric, would go 5 miles, and 50 footsteps towards either a new mommy/daddy or adopted baby beginning his, or her new life in a new family who have adopted each unplanned baby. Whether it is seer sucker, or cotton, a backing is key in my quilting experience – as it shows a FINISHING to each quilt top.. without someone ‘ standing in the gap ” to love a child adopted, or otherwise, there just seems to be no finish to that valued part of a family.. A backing, is final, as it creates closure, and strength for the one who might recieve these qult tops I try to create out of what I have to work with..

  4. What a fantastic giveaway! That fabric is beautiful. I would probably make a nice summer quilt / throw with all that fabric. I’ve never worked with seersucker but always had my eye on it.

  5. How THRILLING for ANOTHER very lucky quilter! Once again… THANK YOU CROOKED BROOK, how considerate!!! GOOD luck to ALL! 🙂

  6. I agree it would be lovely to have 5 yards to back a quilt – seems like I am always looking for something big enough! But, I really think I would make myself a nice summer dress with it! Thanks for giving a chance to win.

  7. That would be perfect to make coordinating pillows for my sofas…What a lovely giveaway…thanks

    Vickey S.

  9. I would probably use it to back a baby quilt for my yet to be born Grandson and then make some crib sheets with what’s left.

  10. Beautiful fabric, wonderful give-away!! sure hope i win!!! I am making a special quilt for a lady who watched over my parents at their home for many years, she was a wonderful neighbor to them and and a great comfort to me…..so i would use the fabric for the back of her quilt. any left over pieces would be used on charity baby quilts:) good luck to us all.

  11. I’d make a cushion for a window bench and small pillows to go with it. Thanks for the chance to win.

  12. Hi, Thanks for the very generous giveaway. I would probably make my 12 yr. old son a quilt or 2. He love to snuggle under quilts I’ve made to watch TV. Or maybe back a few quilt tops I haven’t sandwiched and finished. Thanks again! ;>

  13. Hey, thanks for such a generous giveaway. I have two baby quilts that need backing and this would be enough for those and maybe a baby pillowcase too. One of them will stay at my house for my new grandbaby and the other will go to charity. Thanks for the chance.

  14. Wonderful fabric for a back- I do quilts for the local thrift shop which supports our small hospital- they help keep the cost of updating our rural hospital stay open

  15. We are One Stitch at a Time Charity Quilt Guild. We began in February 2005 and have made over 450 quilts to date. We donate to Habitat for Humanity, Love’N Hugs (think Project Linus), Crises Nursery, Salvation Army and local families who have suffered fires or major illnesses.

We depend on donations for all our materials — fabric, thread, batting, etc. We are fortunate that the O’Fallon Family YMCA allows us a room to use for 2.5 hours a week.

If we were to win this fabric, we would have backing for 2 adults quilts and a baby quilt. What a Godsend this would be.

  16. I would just enjoy seeing seersucker again. I haven’t had anything made from it in years. Maybe a moo moo….grin. Not sure 5 yards is enough to cover my big bootie…LOL

  17. I have 4 sister and my Mom that I have been working on table top quilts for, this would tie them together and make perfect backing and trim for.

This fabric would be perfect for aroma therapy pads I make to fit different areas of a sore body, such as neck roll, back pad and etc.
They heat up in microwave and with different aromatic fillers added such as lilac or rosemary or lavendar, they really make you feel better. You can take them to work too.

I also make lots of baby blankets for friends and family. Homemade is better. 🙂

    Thank you for this opportunity.

  18. I would make a lap quilt with a matching set of pillowcases. I love the color. It is so peaceful and relaxing.
Your quilt is beautiful. Need another sister??? I am available. Already married but could use a senior citizen quilt!! LOL
    Take Care,
    Janet

  19. I would also use this material as a backing for quilts. It is pretty and functional. In our Guild we make quilts for youth that are displaced because of violence. Our need is for teenager size quilts rather than the baby quilts. This would be perfect!

  20. I would love to make quilts to donate to the hospital for those in need or to Hospice for families.

  21. Reminds me of “Gramma” and her days of hand quilting HUGE quilts from rags and scraps. She also made pillows by hand. I would love to have the fabric to replace the backing on one of her quilts that we still use in the winter on our bed in remembrance of her hours and hours of laboring over the quilts she made. (The quilt must be over 75 years old by my years of calculating. The batting is rags.)
    Thank you for this opportunity.
