Crazy Grammatical Errors from a School — 3 Comments

  1. You need to start carrying around a black permanent marker to correct such heinous mistakes yourself!

    😉

  2. We have a church nearby (also not named, to protect the not so innocent) that has the same problem on a hanging banner. Drives me bananas every time I visit!

  3. Stella dear – I know you deal with having to learn a different language on a daily basis, and I know it drives you crazy. This is ENGLISH (with our southern drawls, to boot). This is AMERICA. WE are not learning a new language – we are speaking the same one that most of us learned as infants! We are ALL taught how and where to put apostrophes – from first grade through college! I will rant and rave for these grammatical errors, but I believe that those who are EDUCATORS should be the ones to make sure their / there / they’re (you know, pick whichever you want, it obvioulsy doesn’t make a difference to the teachers in this part of the world) signs and notes are correct. If you are not so smart in that area, then ask someone who is! In a school, even in Podunk, Texas…I’m pretty sure they have English teachers! I will not correct their errors – but, I will definitely point them out! hehe

And Linda – I’m with you. Kids read those signs, too. Anyone who is an adult has the potential to be a mentor to our children. Make it count in a good way, not the wrong way!

    Tammy
