The one request I received (aside from stopping at various quilt booths) was from Leona Hardin to go to the Festival of Quilts to take photos of the absolutely stunning quilt she designed and quilted. The quilt is all raw-edge foundation applique with liquid stitch, then machine quilted over the raw edge while quilting. This technique has become her signature style! Such vision and talent – totally jealous!

Houston Quilt Market 2011: Me and My Sister Designs
As is a custom, I enjoying going to see Barb and Mary of Me and My Sister Designs. They just crack me UP!
Seems ONE of them was sleeping, though, when I took their annual photograph:
This was an adorable addition to their booth, showing that quilting seed were planted there!
And these are the quilt patterns they were promoting:
Thanks ladies! Had a great time with you and will see you next year!
Houston Quilt Market 2011: Gina Reddin with Splinters & Threads
I have known Gina virtually for a number of years, and in person for the past five years. She always has a smile and is just one of those people who is very excited and thankful to have the opportunity to fulfill her quilting and embroidery passions as a career. She owns Splinters & Threads, an online shop where she sells a number of items, but most importantly, she designs beautiful machine embroidery that can be used in OH SEW many different ways!
I find words escape me, but the photos of her work in her booth at Market speak for themselves:
Houston Quilt Market 2011: Sangria Break
Although I made it around Quilt Market mostly in a day, I don’t want to bore you….so, today, we shall take a little break from the fun as there are many folks who will be enjoying Quilt Festival throughout the weekend.
First, have quilt will travel! This is the quilt my third foster mother made for me, and I sadly left my normal, battered and tattered travel quilt at home to give me the opportunity to travel with some quilted love:
And now, let’s sit back….put our feet up….and enjoy a delicious glass of Quilt Market citrus Sangria! Ole!
I’ll be back next week with more quilt photographs from the 2011 Fall Quilt Market!
Houston Quilt Market 2011: Textures and Colors
I am always mesmerized by fabric textures and colors. While walking around the convention center, there were not only the colors and textures of the products that caught my eye, but how the vendors showcased their products. Definitely sensory overload, but so worthy of photos and memories to share:
