When we were driving from Texas to Nebraska in August to visit family, I got terribly bored in the car. I couldn’t work on my laptop because the screen was soaking up the summer sun. I didn’t have a book that interested me. I wasn’t in the middle of a quilting project that I could do in the car. So, on the morning of our second day in the car, I made my husband swerve into an Alco in southern Oklahoma so I could get something to keep me occupied. That something turned out to be some dish cloths, yarn and a size G crochet hook. All in all, over the 4 states that we drove (back and forth), I crocheted 11 towel hangers. It was fun, it kept me busy and it became a game with the kids to watch and see how many I could put together. And I even remembered to sew on the buttons and hide the yarn ends in a timely fashion!
I’m a slow learner, I guess. I just realized that I wasn’t supposed to post the project instructions for the Cotton Spice Quilting Magazine’s Last Minute Gift Countdown — I was supposed to send YOU to the website to see them!

Please, go see them. Each one is as fabulous as the next — not mine, necessarily (though, I did enjoy making everything that I’ve put together)! I think a true test of a quality design is a creative idea that other designers want to make, too. And, frankly, I want to make every single item I’ve seen posted thus far!
Cotton Spice Quilting Magazine has started posting their fantastic “Last Minute Gift Countdown” on their website – and the first two that have been posted this week are SEW EASY! In fact, when I saw the pattern yesterday, I did one of those forehead V8 slaps … wondering why I hadn’t thought of that before! Great last minute gift idea and a great idea for kids, too!
