Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares & the results of the Blue 4 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as is needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (This is paired with the results of the White 3 7/8″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares & will flank the results of the Purple 7 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as is needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 3 7/8″ square & the results of the White 3 7/8″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Blue 4 1/4″ squares & will flank the results of the Purple 7 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as is needed for this quilt block.)
