State Fair Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Split Quarter-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Aqua 2 7/8″ squares & with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Quarter-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These will be flanked on the left & right sides by the results of the Aqua 2 7/8″ squares. They’ll also be paired with the results of the Aqua
5 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Aqua 2 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Split Quarter-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the Aqua 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
