Green Mountain Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Gray: Cut FOUR (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles to make this block. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’s also the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the Red 2 3/8″ squares & the results of the Gray 2 3/8″ squares. The remaining FOUR (4) will flank the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
