Drummer’s Drumming Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ Square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the result of the White 4 7/8″ squares. They’ll also flank the results of the 5 1/4″ square.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the result of the White 4 7/8″ squares. They’ll also flank the results of the 5 1/4″ square.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Red 4 1/2″ square & will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. TWO (2) of them will be flanked by the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles & the TWO (2) remaining will be flanked by the Blue 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank TWO (2) sides of the both of the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles & they’ll also flank TWO (2) sides of both of the Blue 3 3/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles.)
