Fabric Giveaway Sponsored by Crooked Brook! — 52 Comments

  1. It takes an artistic eye to piece colors together that compliment each other. LOVELY tablecloth! HAPPY COLORS!!! Tammy, I SO enjoy the quilts that you’ve made for me over the years. BEAUTIFUL colors and patterns! You’re so talented. KB has your talent… the summer College camp will EXCELLENT for her education. How far along is her Scholarship Fund? HUGS…

  2. Hmmm, what to do with so many colors…? I would have to add it to fabrics that have textures to make a blanket it up here…Yep, you got it, we get cold temps. There would be enough material to make a reversable quilt which is always my downfall to so many of my quilt projects…And I love the Ragtime quilts allowing me a finshed product when making the last stitch…Or taking all of these colors and making tiny strips to make a striped bias. This could be fun project to do with the grand daughter too. She is a future quilter because when she comes over, she lays out fabric and touches them…lining colors together. I could add it to the summer bags I want to make or the aprons I have just started making. With part of the left over scraps could be used in this new technique that I wanted to try, a sort of applique in a way, but hand sewn. Then with the left over scraps, I would donate to the local churches who make blankets for those who are in need. Some of the local blankets are also shipped over seas to help the needy… So many ideas…

  3. I would love to open a box of 25 lbs of fabric on the floor and run my hands through it – put it in piles according to color or possible projects – use it as a pillow for an afternoon nap while I dream about the possibilities. I would save some for myself and give some to my quilt guild and give some to our church group that sews for cancer patients. Comment from New Quilter in an Old Body.

  4. Oh my gosh! I would LOVE to have all that fabric. The one thing I so desperately need in my fabric stash for quilting is solids. I go shopping with the express idea to buy solids and then get to the store and there I am blinded by all the gorgeous colors and my budget gets blown on pretty fabrics before I buy what I wanted to buy the most – solids. If I got this I would be able to do some of the quilts I’ve been wanting to start but haven’t yet because I just haven’t quite gotten around to the solid colors. LOL Specifically, I have a quilt to make for hubby and also one to make for our 2nd grandchild who is expected around Sept 2nd.

  5. Visiting the web site of Crooked Brook is an unexpected treat. The garments presented are unique, stylish and appear to be made of very high quality fabrics. I am especially impressed with the beauty and functional design of their professional chef coats and aprons. If I were the lucky winner of this fabric offering, I believe I would take inspiration from these wonderful garments and create some beautiful aprons. The fabric would also work for interesting table runners and linens. Next thing that comes to mind is a variety of fun garment ideas, twirly skirts for little granddaughters, vests appliqued with sport or western motif for little grandsons. The ideas are limitless. What fun! Thanks for the pleasure of imagining projects and the chance to win this lovely fabric.

  6. OH, my! Fabric! And lots of it! I would make quilts and items to give away! I’ve been unemployed since leaving Colorado and coming to Oregon where my husband has a job. But, alas, for me no such luck, so I’m doing what I really love to do. Sew! I’ve made most of our Christmas presents that we gave and want to make quilts to give to those in need. Even though, we have to work real hard at making our budget stretch, we are so fortunate to have a place to live that is warm and dry, clothes and food! Someone gave me a Serger sewing machine (she had 2) and my husband bought me a machine, when mine Singer of 40 years died, so now I am sewing and am using up every scrap I have…oh to have fabric to lay out and sew! How wonderful! Whoever gets the fabric is very lucky. Plus any extra fabric (if there would be any) would be given to a group that makes quilts for children. Thanks!

  7. I’m really impressed with Crooked Brook’s product line!
If I was to receive a box of so much beautiful fabric, I would gather my friends together and we would sew quilts for the veterans at the local VA Hospital or VA Home. I think these bright colors would appeal to them while they are tooling around in their wheelchairs.

  8. First of all my husband would say he needed to reinforce the sewing room floor!!
Unfortunately my sister has been diagnosed with early onset dementia and is going to have to go into a care facility so I would use the lovely colorful fabric to make lap quilts and wall hangings to brighten up her and the other residents’ surroundings.

  9. Oh, my, what a lovely offer! I would use this fabric to make small pet quilts for our local shelters . . . they are much in need. I would use some to make simple children’s quilts to send to Japan ~ they are being requested by Patchwork Quilts! What a treat to anticipate!!!

  10. What beautiful colors they are indeed. They would be perfect for my Trivet of the month Tuxedos, tote bags, some nice warm quilts for my friends in Alaska. What a wonderful offer from Crooked Brook. Someone will be very lucky to receive this lovely package!

  11. Wow, that is a lot of fabric!! Solids is one thing I do not have in my stash. I would use it with my other fabric to complete a lot of UFOs I have. This is a great give away.

  12. I would love to win this fabric! I would make uniforms for work and quilt with the scraps!

  13. Hi, I like you tablecloth. The fabric would be great to make nice shoppingbags. So I love to win the fabric. Who does not? LOL
    greetings Dini

  14. What a generous offer from Crooked Brook. If I won the fabric, I would make tons of tote bags and purses, using applique and surface embellishment. What fun that would be!

  15. I Love bright fabrics. My husband also likes bright colors, so I’ld probably make him a quilt also. I would be able to share some with my quilt guild for their many charity projects. And I would like to make another quilt for Japan. And I could think of a lot of Christmas gifts. Thank-you for having this give-a-way, and thank Crooked Brook for being so generous.

  16. Well…a company that is willing to offer fabrics like this must be a great one to deal with, I would expect customer service to be tops! I sew a lot of clothes, some quilts, and would put that much fabric into patchwork skirts and tops, and use left over smaller pieces in “matching” quilt tops…no waste. I hope whoever gets the gift really enjoys themselves working with it!
    ENJOY.

  17. Heavy fabric…just what I need to make a patchwork guitar case! Or smaller cases for my ukuleles. Or a heavy duty tote bag. So many ideas. Thank you for hosting this wonderful giveaway.

  18. if I had the 25 pounds of fabric, I would take it to my local quilt group where we make charity items for the local community such as clothes covers, lap quilts, baby quilts, walker totes, and items to send to the troops overseas. We are always looking for donated fabric and supplies to keep supporting our community.

  19. I am on a mission to finish each of my seven grandchildren a quilt before Christmas. As soon as I’m done with the tops I’ll need backing material and these are perfect for our climate. Besides that, the kids love the bright colors. Anything left will definitely be used in making charity quilts for the homeless, women’s centers, children’s hospitals, residents at my Mom’s nursing home, and the like.

  20. I love what you did with the twill! I never would have thought to make a tablecloth! It will be great to use on a picnic too!

  21. This fabric is beautiful! I honestly don’t know what I would do with 25 pounds of fabric, but I am up to the challenge. This is a quilter’s dream!

  22. Oh what lovely fabric. I make donation quilts for the local foster kids and would this help with that. Such bright colors, just what kids like.

Love your table cloth, you did just what I would do as I love making beautiful tablecloths when I am not quilting and embroidering for the kids.

  23. If I had all that lovely fabric I would take it to the Senior Center where we make quilts for those in rest homes and also to sell to keep the Center open for those who need somewhere to go for a hot meal and a chance to visit with others.

  24. I would love to make lap quilts for the local nursing home. Quilters never have enough fabric.

  25. Love fabric! I would put it to good use, making quilts for a local charity or colorful table covers for the social committee to use at church

  26. Wow, that would be wonderful to get open up and have fun finding ideas for all the fabrics. Maybe so valor quilts. I have three granddaughter to help me sew.

  27. Love the table cloth! What gorgeous colors. And what fun to get a box full of fabric! I am currently working on some charity projects with a group of friend, and would love to add to the stash for those projects! We are doing some Quilts of Valor, some baby quilts for the local children’s hospital, and I’d like to add some walker bags for the local senior center. Thanks!

  28. Oh what fun, what to do with that much fabric…..hmmm…I think it would be awesome to have a retreat with a bunch of other quilters and make quilts to donate to our various service organizations in town for those who need them!!! Have a great location to do that in! It would be one terrific weekend!!!!

  29. What a great idea. I sew for disabled vets, making comforters and I would make comforters for them and with any left overs I would make blankets for animal shelters in our area. Pick me! Pick me!

  30. I sew for nursing homes, disabled vets and friends and family.

I would be happy as I make a table cloth(s) for those places. I have three great grand children and making them a birthday table cloth, leaving a white square in the middle for signatures of the host and his guests.

I could embroider their names on a corner.

Embroidered Flags would go on the veterans’ corner as well as a white block to sign.

For the Nursing home I would embroider “Happy Birthday and a white block I would leave for the patients who have birthdays to sign. “Amazing Grace” would be embroidered on the four bright corners.

  31. I have some awesome ideas that I would do with the fabric. I have a son in the Military that is currently serving in Afghanistan. To keep me sane while he is away I started quilting. My friend from work helped me make my first quilt in January for my son, and from there I have taken off. The military has what is called the Fisher house that is like the Ronald Mcdonald house for the parents/families to come and stay on base while there loved ones recover from there injures. So I would make more quilts for injured soliders. While I also have a cousin who just finished her up from having breast cancer and she and he brother our on the board to CCA – childrens cancer association. They too have a place for the families to stay while the children are recieving treatments. And my last project it to MD Anderson to donate a quilt to auction off to help research for ovaian an uterus cancer. This is in honor of my dear friend of 27 years who has been battling ovarian cancer for three years now. So as you see each and every one of my charities is to honor those who are fighting the war, my son fighting for our freedom and others who are fighting for there lives. I would love to win and if I do not at least I hope I have touched someone’s heart to find a charity that has a special meaning and give. Thank you!

  32. Wow, 25 yards of beautiful materials. What would I do? I would make most into quilts for children who have nothing. Plus my daughter has started a Foundation re: children born with a heart defect. We would make quilts to take to the NICU at the hospital. For me charity is what it is all about. I do not have much and what I do have now I make for charity. So the extra material for sure would be a God given bonus…

  33. wonderful fabrics for quilts- still have one from Grandma’s from the 70’s- they take alot of love from the grandkids now. would make alot of charity quilts to be loved for along time

  34. Gee what would I do if I won 25lbs. fabric. My mind is already rolling ninety miles an hour with ideas. But My mother in law is in an assisted living complex. We go there at least three times a week. Have became close to the resdents there. First I would make colorful pillows and lap covers. Then there are some girls (well they act like girls)that I call my bling bling girls. I take colorful jewerly and items in for them. They would get shawls. Then I would cut strips to have them weave placemats for everyone. Yes my mind is racing at all the ideas. Definately I would take the box in to share the eye candy with them. Thanks for letting me dream and play with ideas.

  35. I envision colorful blocks embroidered with cute insects (dragonflies, butterflies, ladybugs etc.) and then sewn into a quilt to be given away!

  36. Scraps are my absolutely positive way to make beautiful quilts. I have made a king size quilt using 2 1/2″ square and 3 1/2″ squares that my oldest son has now on his bed. Also made a lap quilt like it. I now have a snowball (drunkard’s path) using dark and light fabrics and a muslin. My dream is to collect. cut and piece triangles that will resemble a forest in the four seasons. This is a biggie! I cut all my scraps into useable squares or triangles to finish borders. My strips are great for scrappy log cabins or bindings for the scrappy quilts. Sure would be nice to add to my stash!

  37. Great use for the solid twill fabrics! What a wonderful offer to give 25 lbs. of fabric. Whether it’s all twill or other fabrics it would be great to have. I don’t have many solids in my stash right now. Love the pique fabrics I saw on their website. Twill is great for jackets and coats. Would make a great spring jacket!

  38. I am new to quilting, but I can think of several projects for 25 lbs of fabric – including a quilt and a table cloth. I would also recover some chairs (and then repaint the room to match!)

    Thanks for the chance!

  39. If I won this huge amount of fabric I would give it to a neighbor of mine. She has committed herself to making 500 totes for a hospital in La Crosse.
Her mother died of cancer and she is sewing totes in her mom’s memory for persons who are receiving chemo and radiation treatments.
The patients carrry their pillows, blanket, books and charts in the totes.
She accepts donations of fabric, warm and natural type batting from her fellow quilters and anyone else who has fabric to share.
I am proud to know her.

  40. Hi! Of course almost all quilters would love to get their hands on 25 lbs. of fabric–this heavy duty fabric could be used as interfacing or the bottoms of purses (i REALLY need a new purse–mine is hanging on by a thread or two-lol).
Also, I know a site that is making quilts for children in Haitia(sp?)–they just want 2 pieces of fabric together with no batting.
I have several pieces of flannel I could use with the twill, plus 2 pieces of decorative flannel panels that I got really cheap.
Of course–I could use a piece or two to cover older outdoor cushions.
My granddaughter is learning to sew–and her machine is at my house, and she has all sort of great ideas on what to use fabric for. Really, she does amaze me. We have several patterns that I’m sure she could use twill material for. Plus, Jo-Anns is having a pattern sale this week, and she could find a pattern or two to use.

So many ideas! Thankyou for this give-away!

  41. The colors look delicious. My guild makes quilts for abused/neglected youth. There is a need for more “quilts” for the teens. This means larger than what we do for youth. If I had this material, I would select squares and do a similar project to the table cloth that was made by BOM. The projects would be tied. This makes me think that maybe I have scraps upstairs that I can start one with. Sometimes, you just need someone to start a fire.
    Thanks,
    Debra/Texas

  42. Srappy fabric is great for a crazy quilt pattern! I would use the 25 lbs. fabric to make twin-sized quilt tops. Since the fabric is heavy, I would finish the quilt with a flannel sheet backing and skip a batting. These quilts are great for kids that have found themselves and their mom at the local domestic abuse shelter. The bright colors of the fabric and its warmth would bring comfort to these people in need.

  43. A 25 pound box of fabric would do so much. I would share with a friend also I would make quilts for our local nursing home and also would make a few dog and quilt bed for the pet shelter. The most fun would be opening the box and seeing all the lovely colors and to touch and put colors together to see how they look. Such a dream.

  44. 25 lbs of fabric would be a dream come true for my AHG Scouting girls who are learning to sew and quilt. I’ve also really wanted to host free sewing/quilting classes for the youth in my comunity, but with the recession didn’t have the funds for the fabric. This would allow me to teach others what I have enjoyed for years. The extra would be given to my local quilt shop for their charity cause. Whoever receives this blessing will be extremely grateful and I just wanted to say thank you for doing this great deed.

  45. I have been on a charity quilt kick, and want to make some more for Quilts for Kids and one to auction at Church. These fabrics would be a great way for me to do that (since my budget doesn’t allow for me to do more anytime soon :/

Fabulous fabric … thanks for the chance to win!

  46. I would use some to make floor quilts for toddlers. They would love the many colors, and the twill would hold up to the washings.

I would use some to make quilts for various charities that I support, especially quilts for boys, which they are usually short of.

Some charities are also looking for tote bags for foster children.

The twill would make good quilt backing also, and I would scrap piece the leftovers so that not one bit was wasted.

  47. With twill I would definately make shopping bags for all my friends to use when grocery shopping. A visit to Galveston Island, Texas last year really turned me against plastic shopping bags. They were everywhere, hung up on tree branches up to 30 feet high, all along the fences, in yards, pastures, just everywhere. It was really disgusting to think how many man hours it would take to clean them up, forget them decaying.

  48. after I loss my job my wife and I started making quilt at home and now things are moving great for us. And to win free fabric would be a great help for us .

  49. Linus blankets! Think how many blankets for the children that this material would make. Thank you for having this give away!

  50. I would definatly use it for project linus. I have been making quilts for them for several years and would LOVE to get yardage to help with this great cause.
