Amish Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Jade: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares. FOUR (4) of these will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Jade: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Jade: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Jade 3″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Jade 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the Jade 3″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Amish Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
